L'Oreal Glam Shine Miss Candy Lip Glosses

These lipglosses look good enough to eat!  In a nut shell, the name says it all. Its lipgloss that have been swirled together to look like yummy sweeties! This is the difference to the ordinary Glam Shines that L'Oreal make. Everything else is the same, in terms of packaging and the trademark heart shaped applicator (more on that later). I picked up the colours Pink Treat, Nude Bonbon and Tart Lollipop. I got three from Booth because they where too pretty to just leave behind! They come in 6 colours.

The gloss itself is very hydrating. It definetely gives your lips some definition, especially the darker shades. It is as if this gloss plumps them slightly. As for the glossyness (if that is even a word), the name says it all. The formula gives beautiful shine. I would describe it as more glassy than glossy. To me glossy means that it is sticky, and this lip gloss is NOT sticky. So thumbs up to the formula and now for the colours themselves.

The colours I chose - first of all Pink Treat. The colours in the tube are a light peach and a slightly darker peach, (with more of a pink undertone) that have been swirled together. There is also, what appears to be Gold specs of glitter loaded into the formula to create a dazzling shine. The next colour is Nude Bonbon, which in comparison to Pink Treat is not shimmery (no glitter). So if shimmer is not your taste then I suggest this colour. In the tube, the colours are a soft baby pink that is swirled with a white colour, with pink undertones again. Together these colours leave a pretty frosty finish on your lips rather than a full on shimmer. For some reason it reminds me of strawberry and vanilla icecream that has been swirled together. It is very femine and incredibly wearable day or night. And finally the most dramatic (I would say). Tart Lollipop combines a red/orange, with a pink/purple that has been swirled together. In this tube, it is the pink/purple that has glitter but the red/orange is matte. It may seem quite out there, however together when worn on the lips it creates a dark pink with a hint of shimmer (I would say). It is wearable and evens up your lip colour nicely.

So besides the swirled colours, what makes this lipgloss one of the best on the market? I would say the applicator. I would say it is mistake free. It is in the shape of a heart, which is remarkable because it fits the shape of your mouth perfectly. Another impressive feature is the hole in the middle of the sponge. Gloss collects in the sponge when you pull it out of the tube, and when you press the applicator sponge on a surface (i.e. your lips), the hole in the middle of the sponge allows the gloss to seep through. This therefore means that one sweep accross your lips is all you need. This in turn makes it faster and easier to apply. This brush is featured on all the Glam Shine Glossess.

There are more colours available, I just picked three of them. Like I said earlier, I purchased mine from Boots. These glossess retail in the UK for £7.69. It does seem a lot for a lip gloss but I do think they are worth the money. Check them out!

Floral Nails Using Rimmel London Polish

This nail design is very vintage inspired. It is really simple to do and does not take as long to do, as you would think! It is very simple and pretty, and I think a really nice summery look!

I used all Rimmel London polishes because I find them the most reliable polish to work with. However, you can use any polish you want in similar colours to what I am using. You could change the pink for any other shade you fancy. For example Red, Blue or purple. Just think Floral. I decided to play it safe with a nice rosy pink.

What I used:

  • Rimmel London 60 seconds nail varnish in the colours, 500 Caramel Cupcake, 405 Rose Libertine and 730 Silver Bullet.

  • Rimmel London I Love Lasting Finish in Minty Jade 2 old hair grips (you could use a toothpick but I did not have any so improvising was needed!)
First of all the base colour will need to be applied. For this look I used Rimmel London 60 Second polish in 500 Caramel Cupcake. It is a classy, nude beige colour. You can use any colour you fancy but I reccommend a colour that does not clash with the colour of your roses.

Wait to dry and then apply another coat.

After the second coat is dry you want to begin your roses. I took my Rimmel London Rose Libertine polish and placed 3 spots (not blobs) on each nail.

Next I dipped one end of my grip into the colour silver bullet and placed a spot of it in the middle of each of the 3 pink spots.

The using the other end of the grip I swirled the both colours together. When doing this be careful to not over swirl because you do not want to lose the pink around the edge of the rose. A tip, apply silver bullet and swirl the colours when the polish is still wet. Do this to every nail. And wait for your roses to dry.

To create the leaves I took another grip and dipped it into the colour misty jade and did little strokes on the edge of every rose. A nail art pen in any green colour would be ideal here but due to my lack of preparation I used a grip.

And that is how I created this floral look! Like I said there is room for you to experiment with different colour flowers or backgrounds. I hope this gave you an idea of how to do the basics.

Maybelline New York Dream Fresh BB Cream

I got this BB Cream because it is EVERYWHERE!! Im sure you have turned on your TVs or opened a magazine and seen this BB Cream somewhere. So because it is everywhere, it must be a good product? I certainly like it. BB Creams are good to use insted of a foundation or a tinted moisturiser because BB Creams I find to be a good balance of the two. When I compare this BB Cream to the L'oreal Paris BB Cream, I do prefer the Maybelline one because I find it a lot lighter on my skin. For myself, personally, the Maybelline BB Cream is more moisturing for me than the L'oreal BB Cream. L'oreal Paris is better in terms of coverage, however this Maybelline beaut is better for your skin in terms of moisturisation  and the protections it offers.

The formula in this Maybelline BB Cream claims to provide its user with 8 factors that perfect your skin. This BB Cream claims to blurr imperfections, leaves you a natural glow and a fresh feeling. Also it complements your skin tone and make sit smooth and hydrating. There is an impressive SPF 20 in the formula which is perfect for the summer. Lastly it claims to be non greasy because its formula is not oil based. That therefore makes it great for oily skin and also good for dry skin because it does have a moisturising agent in the formula.

It is easy to apply. Use your finger tips to blend it into your skin. You do not have to use a moisturiser before hand but it effectively is your moisturiser. I recommend using concealor for blemishes because this BB Cream does not have a lot of coverage and I like the extra insurance that my blemishes, dark circles etc, looks as covered as it can be. However that issue is down to your preference and what works for you. We all have different skin after all!

This BB Cream comes in four different shades that are adaptable to your skin tone, however I do recommend that you swatch this product on the back of your hand before you buy it, just to make sure it is just right for you.

I got mine for £7.99 from Boots (great because I got some Boots points too!). Also Boots have a 3 for 2 deal on all Maybelline products right now (for a limited time). However if Boots is not in your reach, any Maybelline counter should store this BB Cream.

Favourite MaxFactor Nail Varnishes

I have no idea why but recently I have had an obsession with nail varnish! Do you often get that? When you go through phases of buying just lip glosses or eyeshadows? Any who I am undergoing a nail polish phase lately and thought it would be a good idea to tell you what brand has stood out to me.

And the winning brand is MaxFactor!!! They have the best iredecent polishes on the market right now, I believe. Four colours from their polish collection have stood out above and beyond!
The colours are:
  • Dazzling blue - This colour is so beautiful! Its base colour is light blue. The iredecent shimmer is then a yellow/green colour. I reminds of me of the Petrol effect polishes. By the way apologies about the photo of me wearing it, it isn't very clear but I thought Caswell Beach was a beautiful backdrop because this polish matched the colour of the Sea :)

  • Graffiti - This polish is less understated and dramatic than Dazzling Blue, however it features a dark Turquoise base colour with light blue shimmer.

  • Fantasy fire - my second favourite out of the four polishes! It embodies a dark purple base colour and then has dark Red shimmer through it. It is a nicely surprising how well these two colours work with each other. If dark colours aren't your thing but you like the look of this polish then I recommend wearing this colour on just one nail, and then painting the rest a different colour. I used a coral pink for my other nails with this colour and I just works so well.

  • Sunny pink - This colour is my favourite because I love pink nails. This polish embodies the prettiest pale ballerina pink base and has gold/yellow shimmer through it. If I had to describe this colour in one word it would be pearlescent. However it did take about 3 coats to achieve this colour but the result was worth it I thought. I would happily wear this colour on every nail, however today I just did not have enough time too so I painted one nail Sunny Pink, one nail Fantasy Fire and the rest a matt coral pink (Rimmel London's Rose Libertine I think its called).
These polishes do only come in mini jars which I find sad because I would have liked more polosh. In saying that these polishes where £3.99 each, which I thought was not bad for a MaxFactor polish! You would definety get a lot of wear out of these. I have worn mine for 24 hours and there is no sign of chipping. They dried quite quickly, I'd say a minute, however I was impatient today and did not wait until they dried to slam on another coat.

If you have a friend who loves nail polish then these colours should be a nice treat for a gift. Or if you are like me and are stressed from exams, sacrificing some of your student loan or hard earned wages on one of these babies is not a bad idea. I promise I won't tell!

Hope you enjoyed this review and if you pass a MaxFactor counter, try some testers because they are brilliant! If you are studying hard for an exam aswell, good luck :)

Estée Lauder Eyeshadow Palette in Bronze Sands

This beautiful palette is just one of the jewels available from estée's Bronze Godess Collection. I am truly impressed with this collection. I could talk about it looooooaaads so to save some time I want to talk about my favourite piece from the collection - the bronze sands palette. The first thing you notice about this palette is the packaging. It is a typical Estée Lauder gold case - a real classic and would great on anyone's dresser, makeup kit or even your suitcase for your summer holidays. As for the palette it reminds me of a lush, deep and hypnotising blue Oasis in the middle of the golden sands of the dessert. This palette would look especially good with a tan, but I am as white as a ghost right now and it still looks great so I reccomend this for all skin shades!

The shadows themselves are embossed with a rippled effect like you would see in the dessert or on the tide of the beach. The bronze shadows are various in their shades. The bottom left is a sheer shimmery gold. It is the perfect highlight of the brow bone. The top left is a very pigmented copper bronze colour, again it is shimmery. As seen in the photo I blended this colour inbetween the blue and the dark brown which is in the bottom right of the palette. I also reccommend using this dark brown to line half of the bottom lash line and then use the blue to finish the line to the corner of your eye. I think the blue works well blended out from the corner of the eye out. I think it looks like the sand leading to the sea! That is what inspired the look. As a final touch I blended the dark brown through the socket slightly. With some mascara you got the perfect bronze Godess look for a night out! A tip from me, is toupee a blue kohl on the waterline just to give more definition. Another tip is to use the copper colour as a bronzer. It blends in so well into your cheeks even though it is an eye shadow so I reccommend trying that!

If dramatic eyes are not your thing then no problem! This palette has a lovely medium gold colour in the top right corner that can be worn alone with the dark brown to line the eyes. Or worn with the dark brown on the outter corner of the eye and smudged into the crease. You could swap that brown for the copper if you proffered. Honestly this palette is so versatile that you can experiment freely.

This palette was £35 from Debenhams. I got mine for the same price but from Boots. Basically anywhere that has an estée Lauder counter should have this jewel! It may be pricey but I genuinely believe that you cannot go wrong with this price compared to other high end palettes on the market that are over £40. I believe this palette is good value for a high end brand. Am so in love with this product!!! I have to admit I love this collection so much I got the lipgloss too and I'm debating on a lipstick!

This palette is a true Jewel for the Summer :)

....Hey just thinking ahead for Summer ;)

Maybelline Illegal Length Mascara

What I love about this mascara is its wearability. Good mascaras look good in the day. Good mascaras look good in the night. Great mascaras look good day and night!

I saw this particular mascara advertised on TV and thought I had to try it! When I first got it I thought not very much of it because the packaging looked slightly cheap, however never judge a mascara by its packaging! This mascara took me by surprise, in fact. I immedietely noticed a difference in colour, length and volume. Whilst wearing this during the day I found it hard for this mascara to budge anywhere. It did stay put. In saying that, this mascara was easy to remove at night with a simple makeup remover. I love that also about this mascara because there is no fussing with it. You want it there - its there. You want it off - one wipe and its off.

The formula is unique to the rest of the Maybelline mascaras because of it is thier first fibre extension mascara, this means when applied to your lashes, fibres are sealed into your lashes, hence making them longer and fuller! Now Maybelline claim that this mascara adds 4mm to your lashes. Im not so sure of that because I never measured (not that I think I can without looking silly and asking someone to hold the ruler!), however I did notice a nice longer length which is the main thing!

Before

After

I bought mine from Boots! Maybelline is currently on offer there aswell - Buy one get one half price on selected Maybelline products! I got mine for £8.49. I'm sure there are SO many places to where you can purchase this mascara!

My overall verdict.. if this mascara is illegal then it is worth going to jail for!

Maxfactor Flipstick Colour Effect in Salsa Red

I believe that every girl or make up lover should own a Red Lipstick. This is because Red is such a timeless and classy colour that can suit everyone and will never go out of style. I do understand however that not everyone likes bright red lips because it is very dramatic, but also it is bout how you wear your Red lipstick. Whenever I think of Red Lipstick I instantly think of a 50s pin-up look, for instance Marylin Monroe. I believe if you tone the rest of your makeup down to the bare essentials such as just a flick of liner on the eye with some mascara, Red lips look beautiful!

I chose this product by Maxfactor because it is basically two shades of Red in one Lipstick. I love products that allow you to experiment or create a colour that you specifically choose yourself. One side is a deep and creamy Fire Engine Red (Id say), while the other end has an Orange undertone to it.When blended together creates this soft light Red that I believe is wearable. I reccomend the lighter Red for the day time and then both together or just the Fire Engine Red for the night. You could also wear the darker Red all over the lip, then put the lighter Red in the centre of your lips.

This range of lipsticks come in 4 colours: Bloomy Pink, Gypsy Red, Salsa Red and Swingy Brown. Before you purchase of these I reccommend swatching them to find which one you prefer especially in regards to Gypsy Red and Salsa Red.

They are on offer right now in Superdrug (which is where I purchased mine). It was £6.49 reduced from £8.49.
